HOW WE HUNT

Your South Dakota turkey hunt typically starts within calling distance of a roost or feeding area, from either a ground blind or a spot hidden at the base of a tree. From there you and your guide will be free to 'run and gun' or sit and call depending on your preference.

Most hunters will hunt until 10:30 AM and then come in for a mid-day meal (and sometimes a short nap). Then they head out for the afternoon hunt. During the spring turkey season, gobblers can be heard sounding off all day trying to locate a receptive hen, so the early afternoon is a great time to locate a lonely tom.

As the afternoon winds down, we usually head back after sundown to do it all over again the next morning.

LET'S TALK THE HUNT

TACTICS & EQUIPMENT

We hunt on both public and private land that we have exclusive permission for and are specially permitted to guide on National Forest Land. Calling tactics are dependent on the time of day, time of season, and the results of our guide's scouting leading up to your trip. With our run-and-gun strategies, we may cover a lot of ground or we may end up hunkering down in one place, it's all dependent on the birds and the day. That being said, come prepared to move if the hunt demands it.

THE DAY OF THE HUNT

We're up as early as 3-4AM grabbing breakfast on the go. Our guides will walk you through the day's hunt, going over tactics we'll be using, the ground we'll be covering, the areas we'll hunting, and what to expect during your turkey hunt with us.

DURING THE HUNT

Our guides do all of the preliminary scouting leading up to your trip to ensure we have the best chance to harvest that South Dakota turkey. They do all of the calling for you, guiding you through where the birds will be approaching from and helping you ready your shot.

KEEPING YOU GOING

We like to travel light, using a run-and-gun method of hunting, flanking the birds around ridgelines and hillsides. Our guides bring enough water and snacks to keep you going throughout the hunt and provide full lunch and beverages during the day's break at noon to ensure you're ready to hit 'em again in the afternoon. Nobody likes a hungry hunter—we've got you covered.
