The most iconic feature is perhaps the granite peaks that rise dramatically from the surrounding plains, giving the area its distinctive black appearance, especially when seen from a distance. Among these peaks, includes landmarks like Mount Rushmore and Crazy Horse Memorial.
The Black Hills are also home to diverse wildlife, including bison, elk, and mountain goats. The region has a rich history, with evidence of ancient Native American civilizations and a more recent history tied to the gold rush and the settling of the American West.
